tilt shot
this video clip demonstrates how a tilt shot can be used while filming.
panning shot
a pan shot is created by moving the camera horizintally left or right. this allows the camera to follow a moving object such as a car, or show the viewers the different scenary in the shot like the one in the video above. the camera during a pan shot stays still on a point

camera shots
Extreme Close Up
When an extreme close up shot is taken of a person it usually focuses on around the eyes of the persons face. It can also be used to show detail on an object such as in this image where it is showing the individual rain drops that are on the surface.
Close up
a close up of a person will focus on a body part such as the face or arm. this can be useufull when showing facial expressions as the viewer can easily see the different expressions the actor will be doing.
Medium shot
the medium shot allows the viewers to see more of the scene without looking at everything. when shooting a medium shot of a person it will be the top half of the person like in the picture below.
Long shot
A long shot will capture a larger view than medium shot allowing the viewer to see more detail in the scene. it can show the whole body of the actor and details around them
Very long shot
a very long shot is usually used when the director wishes to get as much detail into the scene as possible or when they want the viewer to see a larger shot much like the one in the image.
High angle shot
a high angle shot can be used so the viewer has a sense that the character is looking at something that is above them.
Low angle shot
a low angle shot is bassicaly the opposite of a high angle shot, instead of having the camera looking down on the actors the camera is facing upwards. this can be used to show the scale of size of an object or person. such as shooting a shot of a giant.

children of men analysis
The scene starts off with no sound and a black screen. There is a voice over which bridges over from the next scene. The opening scene starts off with a high angle shot of a café. It is shows a group of people all looking at a TV screen which is broadcasting a news report. This is hinted at with the TV that can be seen in the back of the shot. The colours in the first scene are really dull with most characters wearing greys and greens. This shows a sense of depression in the society. By viewing the café scene as a viewer you can tell that the location is London by a specific costume that is an icon for London. This icon is the police man wearing his uniform. After a few seconds a man walks through the crowd and stands in the middle of the shot. This is a hint the director gives the viewers which shows who the main actor in the film is. The camera then follows this character out of the café, which hints again that this is one of the main characters. When the camera comes out of the café it does a pan shot from right to left, by doing this it shows the viewers again where the scene is set. During the pan shot you can see a busy London street with a London bus this is another icon that can be instantly recognisable by almost anyone. After the pan shot is done the camera then follows the main actor down the street. As the character walks down you can see different cultures all combined into one which gives a hint that the film is not in the present time. The main character stops to put some alcohol into his coffee, this also shows that he has been having a rough time and may not be in the best of states. The camera then moves behind him showing a view of the café. This is important as what happens next involves the café. A bomb explosion goes off from inside the café and everyone begins to scream. A ringing bell is then sounded which continues to ring in the background this gives a feel of shell shock to the viewers. After the explosion has gone off the camera man slowly walks towards it moving up and down, this gives a sense of dis orientation after the bomb has been exploded. A women walks out of the wreckage carrying her left arm in her right hand this shows the viewers how bad the bomb was and some of the effects its had on people
