Opening Sequence - Saw

SAW The SAW opening sequence starts off with the production companies and ends on the film title. the font used for the title sequence gives a "watery" feel to the film, this is confirmed when the first shot is under water. after the production companies are displayed, no sound is played untill the titles are gone. this is a good effect that we could use in our own film as it adds suspense to the film because the viewer is unclear on what is going on and is waiting for some action to happen. The first sound that grabs the viewers attention is of the man almost drowning.

in the first scene there is very little lighting, and is trying to show the viewer that the room is close to pitch black.  after a short conversation with an unknown person the lights are turned on. a 'drowsy' effect is used as we are shown from the pov of the character we may be able to use this just after our victim has been attacked.

Title/Credit Sequence

after researching into opening sequences of films I discovered that the most general order of titles that appear are in the following order:
  • (NAME OF THE STUDIO)
  • (NAME OF THE PRODUCTION COMPANY)
  • (PRODUCER NAME) PRODUCTION or/and (director only) A FILM BY (DIRECTOR NAME)
  • STARRING
  • (FILM'S TITLE)

problems whilst filming

when we filmed our movie, we discovered that some of the scenes were too dark, we had to re film this scene using the lighting kit. this made the shot easier to see when we edited the film. we carried on editing the shots where the lighting was good. and came back to add in the re filmed scenes.
